Navy pararescuemen help Pilot Michael Collins out of the Gemini 10 spacecraft after it splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean 460 nautical miles east of Cape Kennedy on July 21, 1966, more than 70 hours after it was orbited from the Florida Launch site on July 18, 1966. Command pilot John Young sits in raft awaiting Collins and the helicopter ride to the USS Guadalcanal, the prime recovery ship located approximately 7 1/2 miles from the impact point.
