ASTRONAUT FINALLY GETS HIS DUE
Astronaut John Young, who flew Gemini, Apollo and
shuttle missions and is the most traveled man in
space, will be honored with a plaque to be unveiled
Wednesday at the California Academy of Sciences
in San Francisco. Young, who was born in San
Francisco, lives in Houston nowadays. The Westin
St. Francis is putting him up for a week.
The honor for Young is the result of a campaign by
space buff Ken Winans, who lives in Mill Valley and
whose efforts included successful lobbying of Mayor
Willie Brown and the San Francisco supervisors.
