On May 18th, 1969 - Apollo 10 was launched and carried US Astronauts Cernan,
Stafford, and Young on a voyage to the moon. Arriving there on May 22nd,
Cernan and Stafford in the Lunar landing craft - LM -, at a distance of
9.4 earth miles, took photographs and made visual observation of the landing
site for Apollo 11. On May 26th, 704,000 miles and eight days later, the
Apollo crew was recovered by the USS Princeton near American Samoa.
